About the program

Beginning with baby- Prenatal Sessions

Beginning with Baby is a welcoming prenatal class designed to help you feel informed, prepared, and supported as you get ready to welcome your little one. Held every Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., each session is facilitated in partnership with an AHS nurse and includes a hot lunch. Support persons and spouses are warmly welcome to attend and learn alongside you.

Stepping Into Motherhood (Birth-10 months old)

Stepping into Motherhood is a welcoming and supportive program for mothers and their infants from birth to 10 months old, or until baby begins crawling. Held every Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Each session provides an opportunity to connect with other mothers, share experiences, learn, and build confidence through the early months of motherhood. A hot lunch is served at every session, with monthly visits from an AHS nurse to provide guidance, answer questions, and offer support as you and your baby navigate this exciting new stage together.

Connected In Motherhood (10-18 months old)

Connected in Motherhood is a continuing program for mothers and their babies 10–18 months old. Held every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., this welcoming class provides an opportunity to connect with other mothers, share experiences, and support one another through this exciting stage of your child’s development. A hot lunch is served at every session, with monthly visits from an AHS nurse to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer support as your little one grows and becomes more independent.

Healthy eating and support from the community for pregnant and parenting women and their families can lead to:

  • Healthier families

The support of a Food for Two Coordinator, Community Health Nurses and Dietician’s are available for information on labor and delivery, breastfeeding, child development, parenting and other information as required.

  • Peer support from other new parents

  • Resources for ongoing health, parenting and community support.

The Pre/Postnatal Coordinator is available Monday/Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Transportation is available for those who require this service on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
